Geesh.  I hate to admit it, but I completely forgot about my Little Experiments Blog!  Geesh.  How sad is that?  I blame Lupus!

My sincere thanks to David the Good for reminding me!  Speaking of which, if I have the oomph, I'm going to scoop up some black sapote seeds and mail them to him!  They are all over the ground just outside my front door.  Or at least they were.  I don't get out much.  Well, I do, but just to stumble to work and back in again.  Hopefully they're still "good".

I have made it into the back yard more often this winter, and boy do I have exciting news...

I planted them July 30th so it really didn't take much time at all.  The plant itself is lovely to look at, the flowers are very pretty, and the peas were excellent!  I bought some frozen pigeon peas at the local Publix and we were NOT impressed.  Very bitter.  So I had prepared myself for disappointment when I finally would be able to harvest the peas.  But I have to say, WOW!  The green peas are perfectly edible raw, and cooked!  YAY, YAY, YAY!  Who knew?  I'm saving the rest of the crop to dry on the bush.

I NOW HAVE AN ENDLESS SUPPLY OF PIGEON PEAS (until I move to Seattle in 5 years and 5 months)!
